Just finished reading Drift’s Samurai Showdown. It’s a nice kid’s book (you can tell by the font size). The story fit the show’s style, simple, straight forward, but not boring. The writer got the characters pretty well, I can hear the characters’ voices while reading it.The story feels like a Drift centered episode introducing his IDW inspired background through the apprentice of a member from a mercenary gang named Ronin. Basically the gang is formed by run away Decepticons, and Deadlock was one of them. It’s a fun read too. I think it’s a book that serves it’s purpose. I recommend it if you want to read something light-weighted and light-hearted.Oh, just fyi, Denny wears pajama with flamingo patterns completed with a pair of bunny slippers XDDDDDDDThoughts (a bit spoilery regarding Drift’s background):Even though only briefly mentioned, Drift said he was a homeless bot before Megatron’s revolution. He joined Megatron, felt the Decepticons became too evil, left the Decepticons, joined an aimless gangster, but decided to ditch them when the gang wanted to blow up a city for their prize. I think it could explain why Drift the loner took Jetstorm and Slipstream in: him strayed too long, and had done too many wrong before The CIrcle of Light took him in, he didn’t want the minicon to go through the same or even worse path then he had. I hope Hasbro use this setting in the cartoon because it gives some interesting aspects to Drift. You can see that Drift is not 1001% uptight in the latter episodes. Sometimes he even acted like a young bot trying to be all serious and cool (and getting knocked off second later lol). I think that’s how Drift really is underneath his (figurative) samurai armor. -- source link
