brunhiddensmusings: mapsontheweb:Most upvoted choices for Reddit thread “What city in your state does everyone in the state dunk on?”by u/alexcass91 as someone from wisconsin im surprised its beloitwhy? because we collectively rag on sheboygan so much that theres even a popular radio show ‘whose more sheboygan’, where the point isnt to tell a story about a drunk, but to tell two stories about different drunks and judge who has raised the bar on what it means to be an embarrassing drunkthis is a weekly radio show, they never had a problem having enough material to have contestants every week on par with ‘at 11 am a drunk man came to a public school to pick up his son to go deer hunting, it was not deer season, it was also not his kids school, it wasnt even the correct type of school’i wonder if every state has its own private florida they use as a dumping ground Rhode Island doesn’t have one. Not surprised, really.Take Olneyville for example. If it were an actual city and not a tiny triangle of space seeming to measure six blocks in total (0.564 square miles to be exact) we could dunk on her for that. But we love her. And more than 6,000 people live there. Then there’s Clingstone. Which is a single rock with a single house on it in the middle of the bay. Because fuck you, we’ll build a house where we want to, thankyouverymuch. And Bristol. Site of the very first 4th of July parade in the United States. The double yellow down the middle of the street is replaced with three stripes of red white & blue on the parade route. We love that. We love all our cities & towns. We embrace the weird & unique and accept all of it. We even take strange pride in it. Maybe it’s because we’re the smallest; we can’t afford to ostracize any part of us. Come to RI. We’re nice to weirdos. -- source link
