And here’s the last excerpt from my story “D&D and The Mystery of the Mirrors”:“There’s Gertrude,” Delia said, waving back. “We’ll find out what’s going on soon enough.” And she hurried around the pool.But Delilah had stopped. She was looking down into the still black water.“Um…De?” she said. “I think I see what the problem is.”Delia stopped and looked back at her friend. “Huh?” she said.Delilah pointed down at the dark water. Puzzled, Delia looked… and she let out a gasp. She took a step back.In the water’s reflection, the goddess was holding the decapitated head of the deer loosely at her side, and she was hunched over the headless animal. Her beautiful face was buried in the deer’s stump of a neck. Gouts of flowing blood were captured in statuesque glory on the goddess’s chin and rolling down her neck.Interested in reading the rest?
