bloodangeluk: nillia: My amazing wife @stuffinfluffcooking (& of @askrubynsapphire) and her tweets are both succinct and right. Please think about it, and the artists you claim to love. This is False. Firstly, this assumes that anyone who reads the pirated copy would have bought the product in the first place, which is a false assumption. Secondly, Since you cannot assume that those who read the pirated copy were even going to be customers in the first place, it’s far more likely that the pirated copy will act as free advertisement, and actually brings customers in who would not have considered buying the product otherwise. Thirdly, Studies have proven that those people more likely to pirate a product are the ones who are more likely to spend the most money on said product as well. The studies tend to revolve around CD’s but it can easily apply to computer games, movies and even books. Basically, don’t spread this idea that Piracy is a bad thing. Piracy has been going back for years, from recording songs from the radio, movies from tv, and sharing products over the net. If it was so harmful, we wouldn’t have a multi million dollar music industry or movie industry, gaming industry and I’m pretty sure the book industry as well. Yeah okay, look out a PROFESSIONAL has showed up to offer the truth. But where’s their chart???!!!Because making artwork and not getting paid for it has always been billed as “free advertising”, I guess this situation should be no different right? Holy shit man, fuck you. -- source link
