Messer, XVth century.Commission work.I had already posted this one, but here it is finally, sharpened and given a scabbard.Hand-forged spring steel blade with steel fittings and walnut scales with hand-rolled brass tubular peens. The hand-tooled scabbard is vegetable tanned leather over wood, and the geometric decoration was inspired by a painting by the Master of the Death of Saint Nicholas of Munster. A similar theme is visible on the steel chape.Messer is 772 mm long (lost a bit of the point during sharpening) with a 620 mm blade, the latter 41x6 mm at its base. PoB is 100 mm from the cross. -- source link
