trobador:motleypatches:theletteraesc:Humorous/weird AU idea:Charles never really wanted to be King of Genosha, so without as much as a by-your-leave, he heads overseas to the UK to study, figuring that his father and mother have years of peaceful, stable, uneventful rule ahead of them. And who knows, they might decide in the end that Raven would make a better Queen than he’d make a King, despite her not being a telepath, so he devotes his life to finishing his doctoral work and securing a teaching post. But then Things happen. His parents die (or maybe they just decide to retire), Raven categorically refuses to have anything to do with running the country, and before he knows it, Professor Xavier is no longer the Heir-Apparent to the crown of Genosha. He is, in fact, the King of Genosha.A King who has a surly but extremely flexible combination odalisque-bodyguard.ALL THE ODALISQUE ERIK AUS (say that enough times, it starts to sound like a good chant XD)!The thing is, Erik the odalisque bodyguard is incredibly COMPETENT and BAMF at all this royal ruling stuff, like strategy and army management and keeping politicians in check and foreign policy and looking intimidating. Charles begins to secretly plot a conspiracy to overthrow himself and make his odalisque the king of Genosha.Erik objects. Luckily, Charles is king and is not obligated to listen to the opinion of a mere bodyguard. No matter how fetching or competent. So when rumors of what a corrupt ruler Charles had become, letting his odalisque bodyguard dictate policy and appointments, Charles encouraged it, never mind that Erik actually does not like the fawning and briberies people offer him all the while looking down at him; he may not be a telepath, but Erik knows what certain people think of odalisque bodyguards who gets unprecedented political power- that Charles does love his body and his bed skills doesn’t make the insult less. When people start talking about Erik usurping the throne and even supporting him, it plays right into Charles’ plans. He actually wants to go back to teaching, even as an exiled head of state. However, he realized too late what it would mean to part with Erik forever and Erik is not the sort who just takes challenges lying down. Well, he does, but only for a certain kind of challenges. -- source link
