onceuponaniceberg:In order to assist in the 3D modelling process of the faces, I made this maquette of Tootega. It is sculpted in plastiline over a basic frame of wire and tin foil. The sculpt is the same size as the final puppet will be, so Boyan in the VFX department has been able to take measurements from it and also use photogrammetry to bring it into the 3D modelling software. The maquette will also be a useful reference when it comes to the actual puppet building process which will be next month. Unlike Derek, who will be cast in silicone, Tootega’s puppet will be made using the basic foam build-up method and with real miniature clothing. Only her arms will be cast in silicone. I will also need to make a removable wig for her with hair and wire which I’ve never done before so that’ll be interesting! The image on the right is just a digitally coloured version after bringing it into Photoshop. This is my latest maquette, sculpted for my graduation film which will be a stop motion animation. See onceuponaniceberg.tumblr.com for lots more about this project! :) -- source link
