chromatocloo:Pieces of Viking pottery with traces of cat and dog paws, seen at the Musée de Normandie in Caen Castle“So back in the day pets already ruined their owner’s artwork.” - My sis who took the photoSince this post has gone around a lot, I wanna clarify something ʕ◕ᴥ◕✿ʔI agree with most of y’all that the artisan would not have backed the clay if they had considered their work to be ruined by the kitty/dog(?) paws. Although maybe they did not notice at the time and realized post-baking that there was a paw print? The placement is so weird and the clay is actually a little bent near the paw, and the other is doubled…Anyway my sis and I are just so used to our cats trying to climb on our desks and step all over our work, that these pieces spoke to us that way. Honestly I love these, hope I’ll get to see them again someday.I also wanna say I’m amazed just how much traction this one post got, and just how much historical information there is in the replies. Thank y’all, take care! -- source link
