nanshe-of-nina:WOMEN’S HISTORY ☀ HUTAOSĀ (550 BCE – 475 BCE)Hutaosā (also known as Atossa) was the daughter of Kūruš (Cyrus the Great) and Cassandane. In 522 BCE, she married Dārayavahuš (Darius I) by whom she had four sons: Xšaya-ṛšā (Xerxes), Achaimenes, Masišta (Masistes), and Hystaspes. She was said to have been Dārayavahuš’ most beloved wife and her status as a daughter of Kūruš meant that her oldest son Xšaya-ṛšā became his father’s successor. She was still alive at the time at the time of Xšaya-ṛšā’s failed invasion of Greece and was well-known to Greek historians. -- source link
