bangbang-disparos:rtrixie:no-more-mediation:putmeincoach:no-more-mediation:I can see how someone might think this is what liberalism does. .. I’m trying to think of any argument that goes beyond “it feels like you’ve been cut short because you’re used to being taller than everyone and now you’re not and you can’t comprehend a positive change that makes you relatively less tall, so you think of it as a negative change towards you rather than a positive change toward someone else”, but honestly, it’s a matter of opinion which actually happens. As someone with a middle class and educated background, who has access to white privilege, able bodied privilege, straight privilege and thin privilege, I should be one of the people very close to the “top” end, yet I don’t view suppport for minorities or people with less privilege than me as cutting me down, and why is that? Is it because I expect support for me as a woman? Or because I am not so self-centered I can see that other people are getting “taller” does not = me getting shorter. It’s not privilege, it’s merit. If one group of people is outclassing another in a certain area, they absolutely should be given more opportunities since they’re MORE QUALIFIED.The truth really doesn’t give a shit if you disagree with it.There is considerable evidence that it’s not merit, it’s accumulated advantage. Think, if your ancestors are strong and cruel, they get the most power, they write the rules in order to maintain a level of power, they keep the power. History is written by the winners, and the media is made by the winners, who want you to believe it’s just a coincidence that white males earn the most money, or that they are superior. And isn’t it funny how the people most likely to believe this are the ones at the higher ends of this hierarchy?that’s because you are looking at a society built by white people. Of course white people will run that society. ust like in one built by asian people, asians will be “privileged” and running said society. I’d say that the opposite, if the people who built a society are not the ones running it, then you have a problem.you can be a winner at any moment of your life. As a former “hood” girl, I made the decision to leave a shitty neighborhood. too many damn excuses.Asian males must’ve stolen the privilege while whites weren’t looking. -- source link
