Evidenced in part by the simple fact they were not a young couple, they elegantly wore the battle scars of life, in beautiful ways. Love and joy beautifully crinkled their faces. And their motions were slowed slightly. Perhaps more sure and constant, than actually slower. There was no question however, they young in their hearts. He had written her mantra for her daily devotional to him, long before. She had repeated it so often it held a well worn path in her mind. Sitting next to the “ our father” . It was certain others would not understand her elevated status of her true love to that of a lord, or king. But to her he was both worthy, and deserving. There was a shared and deep devotion they possessed for each other. The only difference, as compared to the photos and paintings of the perfect bodies and contorted figures of dedicated selves to one another, were a part of their past. But the beauty of that service of selves to the other, had the elevated status of being perhaps deeper and more true. As a result it bore a more elegant and refined status. A more heartfelt beauty born of the enormity of their shared respect for one another. They were the personification of a renaissance painting. They were not their younger counterparts, on their eternal search for their place and person in the quest of true love. The primary difference is they have searched and hoped and dreamed longer. Resulting in commitment more true and deeply experienced as it comes from a place of earned wisdom, combined with the deepest hope and belief possible. This may not be the first time her mantra of devotion has been said for him, but the well traveled road to one another has been torturous and long. It is a path few would have had the tenacity or steel-like determination to accept. Let alone to obtain. For them, that could be the reason it is more rich, the ability to have conquered this lifelong quest. To finally find their way to be in front of one another, sharing in person, something they have shared apart for so long. They are now physically, the living embodiment of belief in a lifestyle of devotion.
