A drawing of my WoW RP character, Shanlorel “Shalo” Dawnsong.Shanlorel grew up on the streets of Silvermoon City, training as a Farstrider by day and exploring the rooftops and alleyways by night. Despite her jaunts through the city, she had a healthy respect for her peoples’ rules and culture, and devoutly followed the Light. In time, she married a sweet if absentminded magister, Den'auril, and had a daughter by him. When the Lich King made his attack on the city, Shanlorel was at the perimeter, inspecting the wards alongside Lor'themar, and as such survived the battle. Her daughter was not so lucky. Following the death of her child and the destruction of the Sunwell, Shanlorel fell into a bitter depression that she never entirely recovered from. Her husband, already fiercely loyal to Kael'thas the mage, was equally fervent following Kael'thas the prince, and pledged his support to the newly-named blood elves. Unable to take the knowledge that a mage was responsible for the fall of Silvermoon, Shanlorel took a stance against the mana-tap, and ended up exiled alongside her fellow dissenters. Still clinging to the label of “high elf,” she set out on a bitter crusade against her former kin, culminating in joining the Shattered Sun Offensive.Following the death of Kael'thas and the restoration of the Sunwell, Shanlorel found she felt no better about herself than before, and turned on mages as a whole, unable to cope with her anger and grief. She joined the Nexus War, gaining the full-body tattoos that mark her as a runecaster and spellbreaker. She took a special pleasure in gutting Sunreavers, although she always kept an eye out for her husband, whom she never lost faith in. Several months into the war, however, she begin to be unable to cope with her own guilt at her choices, and one night she deserted the blue flight and didn’t look back. She joined the Silver Covenant alongside her fellow quel'dorei, even as she despised working alongside the Kirin Tor. There she stayed through the Isle of Thunder, where once again she was called upon to hunt blood elves–a task she still took to with gruesome relish. The end of that campaign left her without much to do, and, in search of work and the slaking her thirst for battle, she followed the Alliance forces to Draenor. With the recent Alliance/Horde ceasefire, however, she cannot do the same work she’s done for nearly eighteen years. As she finds herself in desperate need for gold and purpose, she happens upon an old ally from the Shattered Sun Offensive, and learns of his allegiance to something called “The Order of the Shanai…” -- source link
