Not too much is known for sure about Ms. Codex 717, a late 15th century Italian manuscript described by its cataloguer as an Ascetic Miscellany. (You can turn to the online description for a more detailed account of the represented texts and scholars’ disagreements on them).Shown here are the front cover, spine, and inside cover of the manuscript. The binding is modern gilt, and represents a stunning example of its kind. Additionally, the bookplate found on the inside cover could easily be seen as a work of art in and of itself. Hopefully all the gold has brightened up your day!For the manuscript description and digitized images please see OPenn: http://openn.library.upenn.edu/Data/PennManuscripts/html/mscodex717.html -- source link
