The apartment buildings of the Köpenicker Landstrasse, in Berlin, were built in the Third Reich and opened in 1938. They were built to house German workers, and thus it was decided they could have stores for their daily needs (Bakery, Butchery, Pharmacy, etc.) right there, where they lived. Each store was marked with a statue displaying the purpose of the store, i.e. selling bakery, vegetables, meat, or milk. The stores are now occupied by different owners with a different purpose, only the hairdresser actually remains at the same place as before. The centerpiece of the housings is a double statue showing the father, the mother, and their children. They can be seen - here.Treptow, Berlin. January 2015. -- source link
