Another horror game world type for the books, no pun intended. If clever protagonists jumping from world to world with handsome and charismatic game hosts that have beef with the main protagonist are up your alley, you really should try this! Plus, there’s a pretty huge twist when the mystery is revealed, something that we don’t usually see in transmigration books haha :DSummaryHigh school student Su Er transmigrates into the online novel Seven Days Seven Nights, a book that took the country by storm and then vanished entirely from the internet after. While Su Er and his friends have never read or seen even a summary of the book, it’s widely circulated that the novel was banned for being too sexually explicit. A day after he and his friends discuss the novel in class, his best friend Zhu Yun turns up at his dorm and door in the middle of the night, looking absolutely frightened. She refuses to tell Su Er what’s going on and leaves him a cryptic message before pushing a taser into his hands. The next day, Zhu Yun is declared missing, and shortly after, Su Er wakes up in a dark room, and realizes that he and some other strangers have been dragged into Seven Days Seven Nights, the mysterious novel everyone’s talking about. It turns out that Seven Days Seven Nights is more of a horror novel than an R21 item, and quickly, the newcomers including Su Er go through their very first game.Hosted by a handsome, long-haired man dressed in a three-piece long-tailed coat, Su Er and three other beginners have only one mission, to stop a bloody, horrifying baby in the crib before them from crying and to go to sleep. If not, the baby will start feasting on their flesh until its satisfied. The game host doesn’t tell them how they can do it, and after trying a few options, they decide to scare the ghastly baby like all parents do when their children misbehave - stop crying or the monster under your bed will visit you in your dreams. The first one they try threatens the baby with scary snakes, and then they realize that the baby does stop crying, but whatever they say will come true. That night, Su Er knows that if he stays in his room, he’s going to die facing snakes, and instead heads to the game host’s room to try to attack the man with his taser.Everyone who’s watching the game’s livestream is sure this boy is going to die, but somehow, mysteriously, Su Er survives. Su Er’s. unorthodox, eccentric and daring ways through this first game and his subsequent ones, where he basically finds loopholes in rules and exploits all of them, makes him public enemy. number 1 in the eyes of the game hosts. He also catches the attention of Ji Heng, the leader of Seven Days Seven Nights’ most notorious game teams. Together, they get through horrifying games, going from zombies to demons, monsters and mythical creatures in folklore, and more. Along the way they have to figure out just what Seven Days Seven Nights is and why they were all pulled into this game.ReadNovel (Online) | Novel (Print) - Originally slated for early December pre-order, delayed until no further noticeCharacters1. 苏尔 Su Er - A ballsy, fearless and incredibly street smart high schooler who was orphaned a few months before he was dragged into the 7D7N novel/game. He came from a wealth family, and strangely, when his parents both died in a car crash, he was unable to feel any sadness for their passing. This confused him immensely, considering that his parents have always been good parents to him, so his indifference bewildered him to no end. And not only that; his parents left a huge fortune to him, but no relatives came forward after their deaths to contest or fight his inheritance. As he stewed in his predicament, wondering if there was something psychologically wrong with him or if there was a secret behind his family’s situation, he’s pulled into the game. He quickly earns the ire of all the game hosts as he keeps finding loopholes and creative ways to pass games, and it’s said that if one collects 24 titles, bestowed on outstanding players in any games, they’ll be able to truly be free from the game. It’s hard enough to earn one, but Su Er becomes notorious for earning SEVERAL just from a single game because of his ridiculous plays, for example throwing the baby from his first game out the window and almost wiping the entire game out as a result.2. 纪珩 Ji Heng - Ji Heng’s real life background is not exactly detailed in the book, but he’s seemingly rich and very resourceful. Has balls of steel as well and while not as creative as Su Er, he’s also hated by all game hosts for basically violently and physically thrashing his way through games. He takes a liking to Su Er both in and outside the game, and trains and watches Su Er grow. And at the end, they realize the truth of their identities and why they’re in this game, together. Pretty cold, aloof, responsible but also merciless when it comes to games.Other Things I Liked in the NovelEach game host really, really, really hates Su Er. They have basically a chat where they complain about Su Er and his ridiculous antics, and the very host that Su Er met with the game that had the baby, Gentleman Yue Ji (translated as a China rose), is stuck with the unfortunate task of having to host the highest number of Su Er’s gamesSu Er understands that every game they go into, the worldbuilding is both independent and linked to others and that there’s an overarching supervisory system that ensures that games are fair, and that hosts have a duty to ensure the fairness of each game. So Su Er takes to reporting hosts who are not fulfilling their duties properly to the system to have them changed, or calls on hosts to save them when characters in the game go overboard, things that a majority of players have never considered to doSu Er teaches a kid in one of the worlds to say “My father is Su Er and all of you are trash”, thereby changing the fate of this kid, who was meant to grow up and become a future game host or boss, because he never made it there after the first host he meets a few years later beats him up, after hearing the kid-now-man say that line (because all game hosts hate Su Er)He marries a major ghost boss in his second or third game to prevent the ghost from killing him, and then because their marriage is contractually valid in the game world, Su Er even snatches the ghost’s assets to use as barter in the next gameThe romance line isn’t super obvious until the very last arc of the story to be honest, it’s more of flirting and taking care of each other and having each other’s backsThe reveal is pretty cool tho! When they find out who they are, they know exactly what they have to do to get out and they do, then continue on in the real world together as a coupleSome of the games, not gonna lie, are a little bit draggy especially the very very very last one, but it’s a fun book, and the setting is incredibly innovativeSu Er gets a chance to host a game for all the game hosts at the end which is HILARIOUS -- source link
