This example, known as a lit à la Polonaise, is similar to a design by the ornamentalist Richard de Lalonde (active 1780s–1790s), an exponent of the Neoclassical style. The bed frame is carved with overflowing cornucopias at the head and foot and with oak leaves and acorns along the vertical posts. The sculptural crown of the canopy is carved with wreaths of flowers, bows and arrows, and branches of berried laurel.—The Getty CenterI so want this bed. -- source link
