itsbluefrog: TESFEST 2022 - Day 7 - AncientFinal quest fragment for this TESFEST week. This is one I am still planning, but thanks to the kick in the butt this week has been for me, I am hoping to implement it soon.As a device to get a sense of progression, the player who decides to help Sanguine will have to track down soul shard fragments from Al-Esh. They will come in two forms - one form will be individual NPCs like Eola and Aela (maybe others), and the other form will be red gemstones.Because of the time constraints I have for modding, I have adopted the ‘lazy’ path of weaving vanilla quests into mine. This saves development time, but also allows me to send the player on quests that they may have missed otherwise (like a certain quest in Solitude related to the Temple of the Divines… in 10 years, I have never done it.. I am sure I am not alone).The first obvious choice for soul shards will be to track down the gems from the crown of Queen Berenziah. She is a prime candidate for an avatar of Al-Esh reborn and I have used the stones in a document I put together for this quest at last year’s TESFEST. The player will not have to find all of them, but I am planning to set things up in a way that each stone found will reveal a piece of the real story of Al-Esh and Sanguine.I also added an ancient artifact for the player to find - one of Almalexia’s masks decorated with one of her soul gems. Finding the right model to use was a pain.. there are a few good ones out there but they don’t provide permissions for reuse.The other choices are NPCs from my own mods and other vanilla quests. Alicia of course, and the other Alicias in Sanguine Dreamworld. Maybe the ghost of Queen Pothema - another strong woman from the past. We will see.That part of the quest will be open ended. Since some soul shards were sent into the future, it will not be possible to complete it. Because of that, the rewards will come first, and the discovery of shards will only reveal pieces of the story.Bonus - Dream AI renditions of soul shards on sand, and one of Sanguine’s Roses made of soul shards.
