I don’t know what to say about the world these days. I read the stories of the world last
I don’t know what to say about the world these days. I read the stories of the world last week and looked at hayes and teared up thinking of the world he unknowingly is living in. I thought about how I could guard him, change it all, make it better, but I felt helpless. Throughout this weekend as more stories rolled in, I thought about empathy and how in November we learned our lack of empathy in our country has reached a whole new height. We learned that we have more than just two sides but many. There are many stories, many perspectives, many views, many feelings, and many who feel forgotten and not heard. Even in our small town we hear stories of misunderstanding and lack of empathy. It is natural to feel a desire to protect ourselves and our needs more than it is to listen to someone else and their story about why they are angry or hurt. It can be even harder to really understand such varying perspectives and truths we have In our world. I don’t know how to fix this and My feelings of helplessness hasn’t dissipated but I have been reminded of the importance of kindness, love, listening, and most importantly empathy for everyone and every story. So much hate can be born from misunderstanding and a lack of empathy and now more than ever that is evident. I can only hope We can lead by example to our children to always have a desire to be the first to step out and hear another’s story and put ourselves in their shoes. My gosh how hard it is amongst so much hate to humble ourselves enough to listen to someone else’s truth and try to understand. #moreempathyplease #intentionalseasons http://ift.tt/2w3KbAG -- source link
