harritudur:Poem celebrating the birth of Prince Arthur, c.1486A Latin ‘Suasoria laeticiae’ (‘Invitation to delight’), addressed to Henry VII by the Italian humanist, Petrus Carmelianus to celebrate the birth of Henry VII’s first son, Arthur. The poem also celebrated the end of the civil conflict which the accession of Henry VII and his marriage to Elizabeth of York, was hoped to bring about. To emphasise this, red and white roses of York and Lancaster decorate the borders of the page. -- source link
