micdotcom:These menstrual product ads were just denied placement in the NYC subwayThinx is a new menstrual underwear company “committed to breaking the taboo around menstruation.” That mission just got a lot harder, as the company responsible for NYC subway advertising rejected their ads. The ads were deemed too risqué and inappropriate, due to the skin shown, food imagery and, yes, the word “period.” When Thinx pressed the issue they were told, “This is not a women’s issue. Don’t try to make it a women’s rights thing.‘”But cleavage and fruit as breasts in ads? Totally fine. -- source link
