This suit is lacking the flashiness of some 18thc suits I’ve featured here, but it’s still of very high quality. Made of wool with metal thread and gorgeous buttons. This is a good example of an English coat of the 1770s & 1780s. The fashion in England (and America too) had been moving away from the ostentatiousness of the French style to feature simpler patterns and fabrics (but not any less of a quality).
