gffa:Light of the Jedi | by Charles SouleThis book is a really, really fascinating look at the Jedi and the Republic, where I’ve been keeping an eye towards what potential differences they might have versus the Jedi and the Republic of the prequels. The more I go through the book, with literally every bit of Jedi worldbuilding or philosophy or action, I can point to a moment in the prequels Jedi where they do the exact same thing, where they say and teach the exact same thing, showing that this Jedi Order is the same as the prequels Jedi.So what’s different? The Republic is what’s different. The Republic is much more unified and operating in good faith, the people themselves actually pitch in, rather than leaving everything to the Jedi, there’s a sense of voices other than just the Senate’s being heard, there’s even a catchphrase repeated over and over, “We’re all the Republic.” to show that unity.Which is a really strong validation of what I’ve long thought was the problem with the prequels Jedi: They needed a better galaxy, a better government, because they were acting in good faith, while the Republic was not.Now here we have a Republic acting in good faith and a Jedi Order acting in good faith and we see how much better it works. What the Jedi Order needed, more than anything, was a better galaxy to meet them halfway. -- source link
