lichenaday:Vulpicida juniperina (syn. Vulpicida tilisii)Limestone sunshine lichen, yellow lichen, goldtwist lichenIt’s the first day of spring! Annnnndddd it’s snowing. At least where I am. So do bring a little sunshine into my life, I figured I’d share the vibrant V. junperina! This bright yellow, foliose lichen grows on calcareous soil in Arctic-Alpine environments. It has a delicate, brittle thallus and is often loosely attached to the substrate where it grows in loose rosettes or dense tufts up to 5 cm in diameter. This lichen has gone by many names, and is not to be confused with its sister species, V. juniperinus, which grows on trees, has prominent apotheica, and obvious pycnidia. I am pretty sure. You know what, it’s hard to tell, and the groupings of the various Vulpicida lichens is still kinda fuzzy. Someone will figure it all out eventually. Just not me. Not today. Just look at the happy yellow lichen and don’t worry about it. images: source | source | source | sourceinfo: source | source | source | source<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3So good -- source link
