I’ll be honest here, her blog name got my attention first but there’s no denying that this upcoming stylist Gabrielle Pressley is a Black Girl Killing It! How would you define your personal style?Daring. Relaxed. Well-rounded. Fresh. VersatileDo you find that you follow fashion trends, or do you play by your own rules?Due to the fact that I am an aspiring stylist, lately, I have found myself staying on top of the latest trends. I like to know the latest trends so that I don’t find myself wearing outdated trends or leading my clients toward outdated trends. However, I do tend to lean toward the more risky trends. I absolutely love to not play it safe. Are there any colours you tend to shy away from, and if so why?Not at all. I do not discriminate or colour hate! If it looks good, I’m in it! However, there are some colors that I am against mixing, but I am trying to challenge myself by being able to pull off colors that don’t typically compliment each other. When you hear the term “Black Girl Killing It” what comes to mind?Ms. Badu. I love everything about that woman. Do you accept anyone’s critique or are you confident in your style choices?I am very confident in my style choices but for some odd reason I always ask my twin sister. We have very different styles so she usually doesn’t like it…So if she says she doesn’t like it I know I’m doing something right. lol.As a child were you always into clothes or did you grow into your own fashion sense?I def grew into my fashion sense. As a child I was fighting the tomboy in my twin sister and cousins (yes the tomboy in them, not me. lol) I was the one girly girl out of the bunch. So like every other young girl, for a great portion of my childhood and adolescence I was going through a major style identity crisis.Do you participate in your local fashion scene? My blog is the main way I do for now. However, I am working on taking things to another level. How does your day to day life factor into your wardrobe choices?I’m a student so I can basically wear what I want. I really do enjoy that part of college. In highschool there were all of these rules and a wild child like myself could not be free at all. While on the other hand, in most career fields, you have to be very careful of what you wear because of the message it may send. BLAH! I like to take advantage of that and wear certain things just because I can sometimes. What is your greatest fashion pet peeve?People shaping their style around other people’s norms, conventions, and taboos. What is your favourite trend right now?bell bottoms!!!Have you ever tried your hand at design or sewing?Yup. Sometimes I go shopping in my moms closet and adjust sizes or designs of some of her stuff to suit my style or a fab new trend that I am trying to achieve for free. Are there any designers that you like to wear or whose clothing stands out with you?Im a college student so I cant afford most designers but that doesn’t stop me from dreaming.shoes: matiko, Hudson, Jeffrey Campbell, Dolce Vita clothes: Marc jabobs, boxing kitten, Gucci, Rachel Roy, Yanghi (http://shop.yanghi.com), Missoni, Christian Dior, Missioni, Jean Paul Gaultier, Hermes, and Dw by Kanye.
