Hooray! Jane Jacobs week at Uni. Well, not officially, just part of this week’s required reading. The focus of our reading is of course Ms Jacob’s ‘ The Death and Life of Great American Cities’ and the four conditions that generate city diversity: 1. Places that serve more than one primary function 2. Short blocks – opportunities to turn corners 3. Close grained mingling of old and new buildings 4. Population densityThere is so much to learn from this book, and not just for students of urban design. -- source link
