Tuesday 19th DecemberTime for a little update! I finished for Christmas last week and I thought that it’s a good time to reflect on my first semester. Things haven’t all been bad, but it hasn’t been bright and breezy either. Anxiety came back in full force and depression crept its way back in pretty much straight away, but I have not let it impact on my recovery from anorexia at any point (which I am incredibly proud of). Due to my depression and anxiety I had to move back home after three months of living in halls and I now commute in twice a week for my lectures (it’s only half an hour away). I was having quite scary side effects to my new medication, and I felt that it would be much better for me to live at home. Luckily I was able to find someone to take over the contract for my room so I got a refund for the rest of the year (a huge relief!) I am still in contact with five other people from my flat and have been round to visit them a few times ☺️On a positive note, my recovery has been going really well and I am feeling more free than I have ever been in seven years. I have also been baking and cooking more and I am almost fully responsible for my food. I make a lovely packed lunch (& little snack boxes) to take to uni and have my breakfast on the way. I have also decreased my exercise from the routine I had been doing for years and I actually haven’t gained weight..! I’m a member of the uni gym and have been to a couple of classes (Pilates, spinning & core stability), which have been good. I went to my gym at home yesterday and I can lift heavier weights even though I haven’t been training, which shows that nourishing my body properly helps I still have a way to go before I can say I’m recovered but I am doing well. The Christmas holidays are going to be a big test because I still find eating in larger groups very difficult Hope you’re all having a lovely December ☃️❄️ -- source link
