marzipanandminutiae:bludragongal:afroblademaster:bludragongal:bludragongal:So, about Knives………….Defeated.I’m pretty sure there was a group of female pirates who did exactally this because the men they fought didn’t know how to react and would get flustered just long enough to get shot and/or stabbed to death.are you telling me that this is historically accurate?????(It’s been rumored at various times over the years that Anne Bonny, Mary Read, or both would open their shirts during fights. Either for the intimidation factor or to shame their opponents with the knowledge that they’d been beaten by a woman- different time, you know.)(Not sure how much concrete evidence there is for that, though. One victim who survived the taking of a ship by Read’s and Bonny’s crew, Dorothy Thomas, mentioned that she knew they were women by “the largeness of their breasts.” It’s possible that was interpreted as “they fought bare-breasted” when in fact it says nothing about their shirts being open.)(Also this is an amazing comic) -- source link
