Look who’s accepting gentle belly rubs! You can’t see it, but this is mid-slow-blink, and she was making mighty big mashy paws. She LOVES her Auntie Bear.Learn about Fancy.Track the littlemissfancypants tag to see posts on your dash.Visit the fundraiser or the wishlist!Good news!Fancy went in to have her abscess cleaned again and have x-rays taken of her tail. We’ve shared the best image here, and marked what they found. We have also shared the invoice for today’s services, which included 3 x-rays and wound cleaning, and which was a little costlier than expected since they wanted to take more than one film to make sure they didn’t miss any breaks in her spine or pelvis that could be causing the tail issue. I am very glad they are being so thorough! There is a break in her tail, immediately after it stops being her spine. The good news is that despite this, she IS still able to move part of it past the break, which means she might regain full use of it! The odds are 50/50, better than we thought. The current plan is to leave it alone until her spay, then reassess. It is so sad that she is probably in pain from it, but now that we know about it, we can be careful how we handle her. No wonder she has trouble being cuddled without a towel or blanket! The other finding is a BB pellet in her abdomen. There’s no wound associated with it, so it’s been there at least a couple of weeks. It doesn’t need to be removed, it’s harmless now, but … yeah. We were very, VERY angry to learn about this. I won’t go into it beyond saying that we domesticated cats and dogs and made them depend on us and trust us, and when people betray that, it makes me incredibly angry.Fancy is so, so, so lucky. Whatever bit her could have killed her. The BB could have hit something important. The break could have been further up, in her spine. We might not have found her to help her in the first place. I don’t know how many lives this girl has, but we’re going to do our best to get this one off to a darn good start.Something nice Bear pointed out to me, Alex, is that Fancy doesn’t associate being hurt with humans because no human has ever hurt her with their hands. She doesn’t know the BB came from a human, or that she was starving because humans wouldn’t help. She is innocent, she associates us with comfort, care, and love, and she reacts to us accordingly. She came to Bear for help. As far as she knows, she has experienced only kindness. She loves humans. She trusts humans. Until now, humans haven’t deserved it.Thank you for helping us be worthy of her trust. We wouldn’t have gotten this far this soon without you. -- source link
