libhobn:onthewaytojudaism:jewish-privilege:libhobn:Sent to me by a friend this morning. Why, god, why do you allow suffering?”Get centered with Christ”And of course it’s in Arizona. OF COURSE IT IS.Is calling God by Jehovah and Yahweh related to Judaism in anyway? I’ve only seen Christians and BHIs use them and I’ve seen people (non Jews) associate Jehovah and Yahweh with Jews. Can anyone help me with this?Jehovah and Yahweh are attempts by non-Jews to pronounce the tetragrammaton (יהוה, often rendered YHVH or YHWH in Latin characters), the name of God. It’s forbidden for Jews to pronounce this name, to such an extent that we have many other terms for God like Hashem (the Name), Adonai (my lord), and many others. Some even write the English word “god” (which is not the name of God) as G-d or G!d, as a way of marking it as holy. The name of God is so holy to Jews that we cannot profane it by saying it aloud. So obviously it’s pretty offensive to Jews when non-Jews do this.More:The tetragrammatonThe name of G-dWhy don’t Jews say G-d’s name? -- source link
