Grimspound Bronze Age Enclosed Settlement Hut Foundations, Dartmoor, 27.12.17.There are multiple roundhouse foundations (24 in total) to be found inside the perimeter of the Grimspound enclosure. There appears to be little pattern as to their location within the compound although most are to be found in the southernmost or central areas. Construction style and size varies significantly. Some have a double wall of granite whilst others are just a single ring of stones. The round houses would have had a conical thatched roof of heather, straw or gorse. Most of the roundhouses have a visible entrance and some even possess a porch or shelter entrance (images one, five, six and seven) to provide protection from poor weather. -- source link
