The decoration of Glencairn includes hundreds of artworks created by the artists and craftsmen employed by Raymond Pitcairn’s Bryn Athyn Studios. Frank Jeck (1884-1965) was a talented woodcarver who emigrated from Hungary in 1903 and made his home in Philadelphia. However, like many of the artists whose work we encounter at Glencairn, relatively little is known about Jeck’s personal story; for the most part, we must be content with allowing his work to speak for itself. Therefore, we will explore five remarkable examples of his craftsmanship at Glencairn in two consecutive issues of Glencairn Museum News. This issue is part one of a two-part series: https://bit.ly/2klawpU -- source link
