forsythiahill:The flowering trees on UVA campus. I believe they are both Magnolia species. The white tree is beside the rotunda and I could barely get a shot without someone in the photo taking a shot of it. The girl on the bench just finished taking a photo of the tree. If they chopped this one down the campus would REVOLT> again - there was a big protest about chopping down the Southern Magnolia’s that flanked the Rotunda. They were saved for awhile and eventually hacked to make room for the million dollar rehab of this historic structure. At least this beauty stands for all to enjoy. -- source link
