tatobamode: This part of the movie always gives me shivers… I think this scene in the ‘Shogun’ movie was like a taste of what Eiji’s desire is really like. (Though everyone got to see Eiji’s wish/dream/desire when the dream-destroying Yummy tried to destroy his desire, but couldn’t.) In the series, everyone says that he seems void of desire, but in actuality, he has such an intense desire (to save the world and acquire power in order to save it) that I think it was hard to see it. Because it’s not a small, common desire, such as becoming a top fashion designer, being a famous band, winning a gold medal, etc. And because it wasn’t typically ‘selfish’ like most people think desires are. The jester girl asked him if he wanted to return by himself, with his family, to the other world, leaving everyone else behind. But since Eiji’s desire is so strong, and he considers the world his family, he took everyone with him. Eiji’s incredible. -- source link
