Hannelore Knuts in “Timeless” for Vogue Italia, December 2005. Photograph by Tim Walker. For the November 1, 1949 issue of Vogue, Irving Penn photographed Lisa Fonssagrives in “Fashions for a Man’s Eye,” which represented the shift from the empowered wartime woman to one who dressed to please the man now back in her life. Taking a cue from Penn, Walker’s version is a miniature Knuts, dressed in a McQueen dress and Moschino cape, stepping into the 1949 Vogue cover, quite literally representing a cover girl. -- source link
