theconfessionsofawhovian:The main reason I hate Clara is because her continued presence and over-importance let to the tampering of Classic Who canon. Classic Who being used as a reference point is one thing. But Classic Who itself being changed to accommodate Clara? Clara meeting the Doctor much, much before Susan herself? Gallifreyan Clara telling the Doctor which TARDIS to steal? The infamous Hybrid mentioned for the first time ever only in Series 9, but stated to have been prophesied on Gallifrey during the Doctor’s younger days? Really, when? Did Moffat put any thought into this at all?Submit your own confessionsClassic Who wasn’t changed. Clara simply existed in the background and ensured that the past played out the way it had originally. How is it that Clara met the Doctor “much, much before Susan herself?” The earliest Clara echo is implied to be the one who pointed the Doctor to the right TARDIS, which would have happened LONG after the Doctor knew Susan. And how does this change “canon?” The details of the Doctor leaving Gallifrey had never been fully revealed, and again, the Great Intelligence manipulates the situation so the Doctor would take the wrong TARDIS, and the Clara echo just nudged history back on track. Why would we have needed to hear about the Hybrid prophecy? This is like complaining that the Doctor fled Gallifrey to hide the Hand of Omega because we never heard of it until the 7th Doctor. By your reasoning, we should have never learned about Time Lords at all, because they were never mentioned until they were mentioned.I get the desire you have to justify your irrational hatred of a fictional character, but maybe try to put a little more thought into it next time? -- source link
