Executed Today, December 30th, 1663Anna Roleffes, a.k.a “Tempel Anneke” in Braunschweig, Germany. A palm reader and mystic, she was condemned for witchcraft by satisfied customers. One was a man who sought his fortune through palm reading. When Tempel Anneke successfully predicted he would recover lost silverware, he accused her of witchcraft. Another was a local shepherd who was losing sheep, when she cast a spell that successfully protected his flock, he too accused her of witchcraft. I don’t know why these men went to her, or what they were expecting, but the old adage “no good deed goes unpunished” is certainly true.Tempel Anneke was arrested and forced to confess after being tortured. She was executed by beheading, and her body was subsequently cremated. The men who accused her were both fined for partaking in fortunetelling. -- source link
