darthfar:Uhh…. So I’ve been playing Dragon Age II. …Which I’d had absolutely no intention of doing all this while, because I’d played the demo yonks back before getting DA:Origins and had ragequit halfway through the opening battle; but then a certain friend had convinced me that I didn’t need to have played DA2 to play DA: Inquisition, and - after sitting on the purchase for more than a year, mind - I’d played it, and was so obsessed with it liked it so much that I marathoned through the thing twice nonstop, inhaled maybe half the longfics I found on AO3… and then wound up buying DA2 during a sale just to plug in holes… If this sounds like digging myself into a hole, well… Let’s just say I’m really adept at wielding shovels.[You’re to blame for all of this, @wincenworks.]So yes, I liked it. A lot, actually, aside from the repetitive maps and the swarms of giant spiders. (Seriously, Bioware, what’s up with all the spiders in your games? In KotOR there were kinrath; in ME it was the skittering rachni babies; and then I play the DA games and it’s bloody giant spiders. WHY). Enough that I’ve been planning on a replay, and have in fact just spent the Lunar New Year holiday submerged to the eyeballs in @thethirdamell‘s brilliant epic-length ongoing fic, Accursed Ones (whose length already puts Victor Hugo to shame, damn the sewers). And yes, I like Anders a lot, and I just want him to have a cat again and be happy. Because priorities. [No, I haven’t played Awakening or any of the DA2 expansions. Yet. The latter will have to wait till the next Origin sale; the former, if I can get myself to finish playing through DA:O again.]This took way too long on account of how I ridiculously overworked it the first time, threw everything out in an almighty tantrum, and then did it all over again from the base colours up. -- source link
