HERE’S AN INTERESTING QUESTION:In the manga, the previous scene where Usagi’s shutting down Demand’s bullshit about how it’s her fault for existing, we see the overlay of Neo-Queen Serenity, but it’s ambiguous about whether they’re just reminded of her or if it’s actually Neo-Queen Serenity.  This moment isn’t the same in the manga, nor do we see the flashes of Neo-Queen Serenity laying in the crystal or see her flash above Usagi’s face right before she transforms.So, is she possessing her younger self or is it just that Usagi’s having a moment where you can really see the person she’s going to grow into being?In the manga, I probably would have argued the latter, that it’s 100% current day Usagi herself, but they look at her and see the queen she’s going to grow into, because she’s standing so strong in that moment.  And Demand is clearly seeing the echoes of the queen he’s so obsessed with, that’s what his entire role in this arc is, why he kidnapped Usagi in the first place.  Though, you absolutely could make the case for possession there!But in SMC, it seems like they’re definitely saying that Neo-Queen Serenity possessed her younger self, that it was her giving that speech, rather than current day Usagi.I’m not sure how I feel about that (since it doesn’t seem like a power that’s ever repeated anywhere else–but, then, I’m of the opinion that Usagi’s powers sometimes have one-off abilities because the Silver Crystal works what’s in her heart and so it can take a bunch of different forms, depending on what she needs/focuses on at the moment), but it’s a very interesting question! -- source link
