nomadicism:Inspired by @dotu-lotura‘s S.S. Eggplant art, to post this scan of the inside cover for the Golion 7″ EP.As I mentioned in my post of the art for the EP’s front cover, I bought this for the off-color Sincline, and the inside has more of the same. The pose for him on both sides is great too. It’s also interesting that they got his eye sclera color wrong (it’s white instead of yellow). (click-thru to my blog to see this image larger and higher quality)I also really like the pose for Sadak (DotU Yurak, VLD Sendak), and the composition of the heroes. This is also one of the few printed pieces that has a great image of Golion/Voltron in action that isn’t interrupted by other illustration or physical production (spines, folds, creases, staples, etc).I end up buying a lot of old anime EPs and LPs because there aren’t many that have art books. So that leaves album covers, children’s terebi (テレビ) books, and mini-cards as some of the few printed objects with either scenes from the show—or as in the case of this EP cover—original art. Some of these shows (not Golion) ended up with VHS and Laserdisc releases that have amazing art as well (e.g. Combattler V), resisting the urge to collect Japanese Laserdiscs from the 80s and 90s for the artwork is really damn hard y’all. While I am a UX Designer/and UI Front End developer, my background is in the Fine Arts (printmaking and traditional graphic design), so my personal art is nearly always based on found-imagery:So if you look closely at my Tumblr blog header, you’ll see Voltron/Golion knocked out in black. That came from the color image of Golion in this same cover scan. That’s pretty cool. It’s not often you see art from the original show preserved in high quality. I agree, I really like the pose with Sadak/Yurak/Sendak, it looks moody and determined at the same time, to me. It’s cool to see him there too, since he is such an often overlooked character. -- source link
