acharmingnotion:“Disney is very strict about its character representation, but when you walk through the park and you see all of those different little children — no matter what their race is — wearing a little princess costume, you can see it doesn’t matter to them. And so I felt like it shouldn’t matter to us.” - Lisel TommyA message that speaks volumes. I’m still so blown away that this production exists and it was created by a largely diverse creative team and performed everyday with a largely diverse cast playing all different roles. I honestly thought it would never happen, but it has and it has made a huge impact on me. Having this show that breaks racial boundaries in Disneyland is really just incredible. In a current society where there are people murdered for their color of their skin, this show came out to celebrate every skin color. To see that, and to know what’s happening around the world, it’s a pretty powerful thing. And for the times I saw Anna and Elsa portrayed by beautiful Asian women, I was filled with so much joy and I told @mousekears that seeing something like that was the closest I really felt to being a Disney Princess. I do hope this continues to happen in more Disney productions on Broadway, in the parks, and I hope it continues everywhere around the world. Diversity is important. It’s what we need to unite the world. And having diversity in a show based off of a movie that impacted hundreds of countries around the world, is a proud and beautiful thing. -- source link
