This, too. The reason many children can’t tell the difference is that their parents don’t explain it to them and ingrain a sense of responsible behavior in them. They also need to make sure their children are consuming age-appropriate material - for example, some of my mom’s elementary school students have read The Hunger Games already because their parents did not check to see what it was about and just let them read the books because they were popular. Of course, the violence in those books is not appropriate for children.That being said, though, if you’re in a situation where you could be a role model to young people, make sure the behaviors you choose to promote are safe ones - and if you choose to be unsafe, just don’t promote those actions as positive. (The paparazzi doesn’t help matters, though, due to the “all publicity is good publicity” idea that’s so pervasive in today’s world.) -- source link
