Monday breakfast of steel-cut oats with dried cherries, apricots, raisins, almond slivers, topped with pecans and pumpkin seeds. This to me is literally the breakfast of champions in the sense that it’s traditional for boxers in training camp to eat oatmeal every morning, after running 5 to 8 miles on an empty stomach. Though I must say, this particular version is hardly spartan: once you get used to the luxurious texture of steel-cut oats, it’s hard to go back to the instant (rolled oats) variety. The dried berries and nuts give it plenty of chew, crunch, and flavor, but hey you can always add maple syrup or brown sugar. -- source link
