massarrah:Cosmetic Box from Ancient MesopotamiaFound in the Royal Cemetery of Ur, this cosmetic box is made from lapis lazuli and shell. The engraved shell lid shows a lion devouring a ram. The Royal Cemetery at Ur was used from about the middle to the end of the third millennium BCE and its graves have yielded a variety of finds, including high-quality objects, such as the one above, made from imported material and showing fine workmanship.
