You have probably seen this with your own eyes before – but maybe you didn’t know exactly what it is you were seeing!The pinkish band in this picture is called “The Belt of Venus”Shortly after sunset or before sunrise, when the sky is clear, you can see a pinkish glow that extends roughly 10°–20° above the horizon. The pink colour is attributed to the backscattering of the light from the rising or setting sun.
