kawaiibunny3:moontouched-moogle:eidolous:brianenu:I really dislike this site sometimes.I can’t believe it’s gone from “this is racist because they are putting on a harsh caricature of blacks” to “his face paint is literally black therefore is racist”. It’s a literal interpretation with the actual purpose and context removed. That’s not even face paint, you can’t peel face paint like that. It’s probably one of those skin-cleansing face masks, so there’s no way ANYONE should interpret it as being fucking racist. For context: It’s the 1st episode of “Yawara a Fashionable Judo Girl”, a sports anime from 1989.This character is an egotistical and effeminate boy idol at Yawara’s school who sings and makes the girls crazy (the type of guy who would respond to a love letter by saying “sorry, but please keep supporting me” & give her his autograph) he’s also only in it for one episode. In order to get that narcissistic part of his character across and also to establish a joke about how old fashioned Yawara’s grandpa is. When Yawara’s grandfather knocks on this guy’s door, he opens the door in curlers and a face mask. Here’s the exchange:It’s a face mask for skin health. That’s all. If this is a trigger for anyone at all, I’m sorry, but there’s no malice in this scene. Also please watch Yawara, it’s a really good sports anime. -- source link
