end0skeletal:Tal’ngay Dha’run the leucistic grey-headed flying fox was rescued in the town of Canungra on the Gold Coast in Australia. He was suffering from extreme sunburn due to his lack of pigmentation. Leucism is similar to albinism but causes only a partial loss of pigment; animals with leucism retain pigment in their eyes and sometimes other parts of their body as well.Because of Tal’ngay Dha’run’s coloring, he is unlikely to survive in the wild and is a permanent resident at the Australian Bat Clinic. His name (pronouncedTalingi Darrun) was chosen in recognition of the indigenous Yugambeh Tribe and means “white wing.”(Source) -- source link
