Waterhouse, John William. Ulysses and the Sirens. 1891. Oil on canvas. National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne. More classically rendered depictions of harpies. These ones are particularly disturbing in that they have realistic women’s heads on the body of the hawk. I am not familiar with any myth that might be associated with this exact picture but I am familiar with sirens in Greek myth in general. I want to be able to draw and illustrate myths, that alone inspires me about this. -- source link
