gffa:Resistance Reborn | by Rebecca RoanhorseI really liked these moments from the novel, where Leia is a complicated person, she can’t really forgive Vader because of the things he did in the past, but she could forgive someone like Iden Versio or Del Meeko. Iden, especially, how much must Leia have sympathized with her, knowing that her father was the infamous Imperial Admiral Garrick Versio and Iden would have to get out from under the shadow of him?And it’s so interesting how Leia views young Zay, who couldn’t be much older than sixteen and yet Leia still remembers that she was joining the Rebellion at that age, was so fired up that she pushed until her parents had to let her. That Leia is aware the Resistance has recruited kids like Mattis Banz and Lorica Demaris and Dec Hansen and Sari Nadle, some of whom were even younger than her, at 14 when they joined. She doesn’t seem to regret her own past, joining the Galactic Civil War at that age, nor regret that these kids are young, only that they’ve had to suffer at all, that anyone has to suffer. She instead seems to view youth as less of a hindrance than lack of intelligence and capability, that if someone is smart and strong, she trusts them to join. It’s especially interesting in a galaxy where there’s an ancient energy field that very often nudges people towards a destiny they were meant for and Leia has been feeling that all her life, even before she knew what it was. People in this galaxy are sometimes meant for things, they just know it even before they know how they know it, and Leia knows that just as much as anyone. -- source link
