[ “ ” | | ]Aaaaand another one that feels wrong to say, but… I feel like Ash and River actually would have lasted longer than River and Oli? Maybe still not longterm, maybe, but… Like, Ash and Oli both have different tolerance levels for different types of BS, and Ash doesn’t require as much attention as Oli does to feel appreciated? Much like Oli, Ash gives everything to his relationship but doesn’t need nearly as much back in return. In fact, he pretty much makes his relationship a part of who he is. He’s also happy to chill around the house and read, rather than go out and socialise or for meals etc. Asher’s best friend, Amir, is straight and with River’s twin sister, so I can’t see River harbouring any jealousy the way he did against Maury…The question would really be if Ash would put up with Riv’s temper tantrums any better than Oli did? There would actually be less of them, because as I said, Ash wouldn’t require as much attention as Oli. And whether Ash would enable River’s behaviour as much as Oli did, which is why Riv got as bad as he did… Hmm, I dunno. Asher is more patient than Oli about that sort of thing, and really doesn’t let arguments get buried the way Oli did; he’d rather sort out root causes to problems rather than pretend they didn’t happen. He’s also better at de-escalating any confrontations compared to Oli… But then, is he only that way because he's had to be for Loch? Hmmm, honestly, I dunno… -- source link
