modernism-in-metroland: Water Tower, Tonwell, Herts (1964) by Edmund C. Percey of Scherrer and Hicks. The firm of Scherrer and Hicks was formed by Emil Scherrer and Kenneth Hicks after the end of the Second World War. They quickly gained a reputation for producing buildings for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries despite the lack of materials and manpower in the post war period.
